Started in January 2008, Project 1968 is a blog docu-novel about the lives of three young women on their way to the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. This blog explored the day-to-day experiences and their thoughts about the world around them. The project earned attention from the media, including a piece from The Birmingham Weekly (reprinted on The Sixties website.)
Educause Review also took note of Project 1968. In a story by Bryan Alexander and Alan Levine called "Web 2.0 Storytelling: Emergence of a New Genre," they wrote:
"To some extent, the power of such a post is due to the dramatic subject matter (a wrenching political event) and also to the writer’s skill. Yet the blog form, which accentuates this narrative, is accessible to anyone with a browser. Examples like Project 1968 offer ready models for aspiring writers to learn from."
The project is undergoing a major revamp, but go ahead and check it out.
